With 10 years of experience in the Personal Training & coaching business; an industry that has an average career span of 18 months, Sonie is one of a small percentage of trainers with longevity!
During her career, Sonie ran a successful outdoors business, managed a well-known & highly regarded Personal Training Studio in the Eastern Suburbs and now enjoys working as a self-employed consultant at Pulse Gym, in addition to her online coaching business.
With a wealth of knowledge gained both from years of experience and working closely with a high profile exercise scientist, together with her passion for creating a healthy mind, body and spirit, Sonie practices what she preaches, is meticulous about form and technique and will be brutally honest with you, but on the flip side, will be the most caring/empathetic and supportive trainer, who will encourage you to become the best version of yourself possible.
After having 3 major back surgeries in the last 5 years, Sonie strives to inspire and motivate others to achieve what they believe they cannot do, plus she knows a thing or two about backs, rehabilitation, and the resulting frustrations and struggles that come from starting over.
Sonie predominantly works with individuals who have suffered with long term injuries, and has trained many post-operative clients, collaborating with physios/chiropractors to assist them in their journeys ahead towards healthy, pain-free movement.

Jo is passionate about fitness and wellness so when she first discovered Pilates 10 years ago she quickly began to feel the benefits of practicing such a unique form of exercise. Jo has extended her knowledge and experience in Pilates by working with physiotherapists, dancers, athletes and pregnant women, individually and in group classes and loves every minute of it. Her extensive understanding of physical abilities and limitations allows her to tailor and modify exercises to meet the needs of clients. Jo believes that through Pilates, mind/body/spirit connection, core strength, flexibility, posture, and muscles imbalances are greatly improved which leads to greater protection of the spine. “In 10 sessions you will feel the difference, in 20 sessions you will see the difference, in 30 you will have a new body.” Joseph Pilates.

Swimming has been part of my life since I was a child. Coming from Europe, my parents were not strong swimmers. They thought it was important to learn how to swim so that I could be safe around water and also participate in school and social activities.
Learning how to swim, allowed me to participate in competitive swimming as well as triathlons. I now enjoy tackling oceans swims of various distances, as well as the swim leg in triathlons to keep fitness and maintain a heathy lifestyle.
Knowing how important it is for children and adults to be able to swim and be safe around water, I became a ASCTA swim instructor. I am passionate about teaching children the swimming skills they need to be able to confidently move through water to the best of their ability, ensuring they have fun at the same time.
It is rewarding to see children, as well as adults, reach their swimming goals. These skills are learnt for life which can be to stay fit and healthy or to enjoy social activities around water.
Swimming is an important life skill, especially in Australia and I look forward to taking this journey with you.

I have been teaching swimming since 2000, teaching babies and pre-school children through to adults. Unlike many swimming instructors, I only learnt to swim competently myself in my 20’s, and the desire for my own children not to be like me led me to become an AUSTSWIM instructor.
I still remember what it’s like to be fearful of the water, so am understanding of this in learners of all ages. I currently hold qualifications in Teaching of Swimming and Water Safety, Infants and Access and Inclusion. I’m currently working towards my Towards Competitive Strokes and Bronze Coaching qualification.
I have a strong interest and experience teaching swimmers with special needs. Since 2006 I have also been working as a Teacher’s Aide with students with additional needs. I currently work in a high school for students with special needs with an extensive swimming programme, where I teach beginners through to squad level swimmers.
I live locally, and when I’m not working you might see me riding, running or swimming myself, training for triathlons! I look forward to sharing my passion for all things swimming with the residents of The Waterfront.
I have been a keen recreational swimmer for over 30 years now, having taken it up to counteract several back issues. Over the years, I have developed a passion and interest in improving my own swimming, and learning as much as I can about the sport. As such I understand the needs of the adult learning, and adults with chronic and acute injury.
I have participated in several Half Ironman events in the swim and cycle legs, and several open water events.
I have shared my wife’s passion for swimming teaching over many years, and am looking forward to bringing my previous experience coaching children in other sports, and in corporate training, to the fore, in helping deliver the quality swimming programme at Pulse.
